Irving Emerson “Pete” Green passed at 4:40 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen.
He was born on October 15, 1941 in Clarksville, Tenn. to Charles and Ruby (Streetman) Green. He married Pattie LeCount on Dec. 16, 1976 in Ligonier.
Pete is survived by his wife, Pattie Green, of Cromwell; a son, Matthew (Rachel) Green, of Lillian, AL; a daughter, Suzzette Penton, of Polk City, FL; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Green, of Milford, IN; a sister, Elizabeth Spencer, of Virginia; 2 half-brothers, James Wallace of Bremen, IN and Richard Wallace of Georgia; and a half sister, Jane Dermott of South Bend, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruby Green, along with his second Father, James Wallace, who raised him, a son, Todd Green, and 2 brothers, Charles and John Green.
Pete served his country honorably in the United States Army. He retired from Dana Corp. in Syracuse. He was a member of the American Legion Post #243, where he had been Commander for 5 years. He was a beekeeper; he loved his flowers and his fruit trees and he spent all the time he could outdoors. Pete loved his family dearly.
A Funeral Service in his honor will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1 at Yeager Funeral Home – 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor John Randolph of the People’s Bible Church in Benton will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 31 at the Funeral Home.
