Mary Lou (Mawhorter) Howell, 89, Cromwell, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 3, 2016 at Northridge Village in Albion.
She was born April 18, 1927 the daughter of Clarence and Burnice (Huntsman) Mawhorter in Noble County. On Jan. 17, 1948 she married Mack D. Howell; he preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1976.
She is survived by three children, LuAnn (Gary) Davis, Brownsburg; Dixie (Tony) Kreager, Ligonier; and Mary (Bob) Wysong, Ligonier; six grandchildren: Beth Michalak, Matthew Davis, Alison Mead, Lee Kreager, Abby Reed, and Laura Shearer; along with 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, and daughter-in-law, Tom and Nancy Howell.
Mary Lou was a 1945 graduate of Wolf Lake High School and was a devoted homemaker all of her adult life. She was a member of Stone’s Hill Community Church and enjoyed gardening, baking, and being with her family. She worked for several years at West Noble Elementary as 1st grade assistant and was also known for preparing many good foods at Grandma’s Cupboard in Cromwell.
A memorial service will be held in Mary Lou’s honor at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017 at Stone’s Hill Community Church, 151 Stone’s Hill Road; Ligonier, IN 46767. A private committal will take place at a later date.
