Karen Sue Richendollar, 72, passed away Sunday July 25, 2016 as the result of natural causes. She was born to Frances Lucille Hinderer and John Wilbur Dukes Born on June 20, 1944 at the Lucky Hospital in Wolf Lake. Karen was a lifetime resident of the Ligonier Millersburg community and married John C. Richendollar on Sept 5, 1966; he preceded her in death on April 24, 1989.
Karen has four sons: John Brett (Brenda) Richendollar of Corpus Christi, Texas; James Scott Richendollar of Ligonier; Jeffrey Todd (Laurel) Richendollar of Benton; and Justin Noll (Sarah) Richendollar of Fort Wayne, IN; two grandsons, Tyler and Henry; three granddaughters, Hannah, Hailey and Kylee; and two step grandchildren, Zachary and Gabrielle.
She was preceded in death by her father who was killed during WWII; her mother Lucille; her grandparents; and later by her fiancé, Al Sprague in 2001.
Karen was raised by her mother Lucille along with grandparents Charles and Blanch Henderer. She attended Hex Grange School and Judy School, and later graduated from Millersburg High School and Fort Wayne School of Cosmetology. Karen served on the Ligonier City Council for several terms and was a member of Richville United Methodist Church. She worked as a beautician at Magic Mirror and Sister’s Beauty Shop for many years and also worked for Annie Oakley, Bell’s Party Shop, and Kidd’s Marshmallow Factory.
A funeral service in Karen’s honor will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 30 at Richville United Methodist Church. Pastor Jean Ness will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
Family and friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 28 and 2-8 p.m Friday July 29, 2016 along at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767. Family and Friends may also call upon from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday, July 30 at the Richville United Methodist Church.
