Marjorie (Galloway) Kimball, 102, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, in Mesa, Ariz.
Marjorie was born in Wakarusa, on Jan. 1, 1913, to Forest and Ethel Smeltzer. She graduated from Elkhart High School and while there attended a local business college. Marjorie formerly served as Ligonier City Clerk and assisted her husband, Herb, in the family store, Galloway’s Men’s Wear. She was retired from Penn Controls of Goshen.
Marjorie loved all animals and during her later years in Ariz., she relished having her Chihuahua, Tinkerbell, constantly by her side. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and watching basketball and was always ready to talk about current events and the latest fashion trends. Her family was always very important to her.
She is survived by two daughters: K. Diane (Lee) Ward; and Susan (Gary) Franks; granddaughters: Laura (David) Brandts; Kathleen (Jim) Bramlage; Pamela (Rob) Bettinger; and Cary (Matt) Richey; nephew: Jim (Barb) Swartzell; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two great-nieces. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Maxine Swartzell; son-in-law: Lee Ward; and previous husbands: Herbert Galloway; and Glenn Kimball.
Marjorie had been active in the Ligonier Presbyterian Church and attended the Gold Canyon United Methodist Church after moving to Arizona.
A memorial gravesite service will be held this summer at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier with Pastor David Brandts officiating. The date and time will be announced later.
Memorials in Marjorie’s name may be made to Optum Hospice, Phoenix, Ariz. or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Knab, Utah or a charity of choice.
