Lillian Mae (Umbaugh) Hursey

Lillian Mae (Umbaugh) Hursey, 90, of Cromwell, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Countryside Meadows American Senior Communities, Avon, after a lengthy illness of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born on Aug. 9, 1925, in Chicago, Ill. to John and Mary (Smith) Umbaugh. She was a life long cat lover and Chicago Cubs Baseball fan. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1943. Lillian was a member of Cromwell United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

Lillian was a volunteer of West Noble Food Pantry for many years and past vice president of West Noble Food Pantry Board of Directors.

Lillian is survived by a beloved sister and brother-in-law: Alice and Merrill Deardorff, Hanna; and several beloved nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father: John, in 1963; mother: Mary, in March 1988; husband: Darell, in Sept. 1988; and brother: George, Oct. 1988.

A celebration of life service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Cromwell United Methodist Church. Pastor Marilyn Gebert will officiate. Lillian has donated her body to Anatomical Education Program of Indiana University.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cromwell United Methodist Church, West Noble Food Pantry, Ligonier, or Alzheimer’s Association of Greater IN, Indianapolis.
