Georgena E. ‘Gene’ Moser

Georgena E. MoserGeorgena E. “Gene” Moser, age 90, of Ligonier, passed away at 11:28 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Avalon Village in Ligonier.

She was born on May 3, 1925, in Elkhart County to Eldon S. and Blossom G. (Odiorne) Miller. On June 25, 1944, she married Lewis L. Moser. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2004. Mrs. Moser was lifelong area resident.

She was a 1943 Ligonier High School graduate. Georgena retired from the Ligonier License Branch as the manager after 21 years of service. Mrs. Moser was a lifelong member of the Ligonier Presbyterian Church where she was very active in the church including serving as treasurer and she taught Sunday School for several years. Gene was also active in Bridge Club, Study Club, The Eastern Star, and Kappa Sigma Tau.

Georgena was very involved in the Republican Women’s Association and the Republican Party where she traveled extensively with her husband. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years and thoroughly enjoyed spending time on Lake Wawasee.

She is survived by four children: Rebecca Jean (Robert) Foote, Frisco, Colo.; Laura Sue Brattain, Victor, Idaho; David Lewis (Gail) Moser, Ligonier; Julie Ann (Tim) Byer, Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and twin sisters: Bonnie Knowles; and Dixie Donham.

A funeral will be held in Mrs. Moser’s honor at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Ligonier Presbyterian Church, Ligonier, with Pastor Martha Flora officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier. A time of visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier.
