Karl L. Gorsuch, 88, Kimmell, passed away peacefully at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse. He was born on Sept. 8, 1929, the son of Dale and Almeda (Reeve) Gorsuch in Kimmell, at home. On Sept. 15, 1948, he married Mary Jane Robinson; she survives.
Also surviving are four children, Jim Gorsuch, Kimmell, Sally (Don) Strouse, Goshen, Randy (Linda) Gorsuch, Wawaka, Pam (Dave) Alles, Ligonier; seven grandchildren, Tim Strouse, Jim Strouse, Wes (Chelsea) Gorsuch, Christy (Joel) Kempson, Alex (Emily) Gorsuch, Doug Alles, and Ty (Kirstin) Alles; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Lois Replogle, Kimmell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bill Gorsuch and Roy Dean Gorsuch.
Karl was a master gardener, an awesome cook and a talented woodworker who loved to fish. He was also a member of Kimmell United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. Karl retired from CSX Railroad after 41 years of working on the railroad and enjoyed traveling in his retirement. Above all, Karl was a devoted family man who loved, and was loved by all.
A funeral service will be held in Karl’s honor at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. Pastor Stuart Mutzfield will officiate. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.
Family and friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
