Betty Jean Brown

Betty Jean Brown, 76, Ligonier, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Avalon Village Nursing Home in Ligonier.

She was born Sept. 16, 1940 to Fred and Margaret (Rough) Cook in Mishawaka.

Betty was an area resident for a long time.  For 34 years she worked at the Raco Factory on the production line. She enjoyed working and spending all of her free time with her family.  They would spend summers vacationing at Smokey Mountain.  Their family dog, Teddy brought her great amounts of joy.  Her amazing sense of humor and one of a kind attitude will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina (Steven) Page, of Ligonier; son; James Brown II of Ligonier; granddaughter; Amber Yeager of Ligonier; sister; Donna (Ron) Hough of Mishawaka; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007, James Brown Sr., parents; Fred and Margaret Cook, brother; Glen Cook and sister; Dora Pease.

Family and friends may gather for a funeral service that will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, March 3. Pastor Joey Nelson will officiate.

There will be a private committal service taking place at the Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center.  Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions in honor of Betty may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice – 620 Edison Rd., Suite 122 Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Yeager Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
