Susan Lee Lord, 60, Ligonier, passed away at the Parkview Regional Hospital Dec. 7, 2016, in Fort Wayne.
She was born Sept. 2, 1956, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Calvin Lee and Julia (Zakrajsek) Trowbridge. On Dec. 13, 1980, she married Robert B. Lord II, in Goshen.
She was a graduate of Lake Michigan Catholic, class of 1974 in St. Joseph Michigan. She was known as “Mama Sue” during the 20 plus years she operated Sue Lord’s Childcare Home. Crafting, cooking, crocheting gifts, playing board games of any kind, and attending many events in the community is how she enjoyed to spend her time. Christian music was her passion. She taught herself how to play the piano and guitar. She loved making memories with her children and grandchildren which will never be forgotten. “Be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem” was a motto that Sue lived by. A couple others are “Love it out, hug it out” and “GOOD WORD!” She graduated magna cum laude from Ivy Technical College with an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education in May of 2013. Sue was a woman of many talents and great traits. She was a selfless and compassionate person with a heart too big to describe. Sue will always be missed, and she will always be loved.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Robert “Bob” Lord; mother, Julia Trowbridge; children: Karolyn Lord, Jeffrey (Kara) Lord, Stephanie (Scott) Russo, Amy Lord, Shelley (James) Parker; grandchildren: Robert Lord-Freed, Austin Parker, Kierston Lord-Miller, Anthony Miller, Alex Parker, Brannon O’Dell, Eli Lord, Audrey Lord, Julianna Russo, Quinn Parker, siblings: Terrance “Terry” Trowbridge and Victoria “Vicky” Kirkman.
She was preceded in death by her father; Calvin Trowbridge, and her sister; Nancy Celeste.
A Funeral Service in Susan’s honor will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Joey Nelson will officiate. There will be a time of visitation from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
