Charlene L. Gehring, 85, Ligonier, passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2016, at Avalon Village in Ligonier.
She was born May 29, 1931 the daughter of Charles Leroy and Beatrice Mae (Hagen) Branham in Chicago.
She is survived by her daughters; Cynthia (David) Swank, Ligonier; Susan Rittenberry, Kimmell; five grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren along with her brother; Jerry (Karen) Branham, Ligonier.
She is preceded in death by her long time companion of over 22 years, Norman Biddle and her parents; Charles and Beatrice Branham.
Charlene moved to the Noble County area back in 1949. Originally from a big city, she got acquainted with small town life. Her first job was at the Garment Factory in Ligonier. She worked at Sorg Products until their closing in the early eighties. In 1995 she retired from Goshen Hospital after over ten years of service. An avid member of the Ligonier United Methodist Church, and the Eagles Post 1763, she made sure to attend most functions. The American Legion Post 243 had the luxury of having her be a part of their Ladies Auxiliary. So many memories have been created to cherish amongst family and friends. Charlene will be greatly missed.
A funeral service in Charlene’s honor will be held at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. Pastor Jean Ness will officiate. Burial will take place at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.
Family and friends will be received from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the funeral home.
