Evelyn Marie Kreager, 85, Ligonier, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
She was born on June 14, 1931 the daughter of Orvis and Ena (Miller) Musser. On June 24, 1951, she married the character, Jack Kreager; he preceded her in death in 1979.
She is survived by her children: Tony (Dixie) Kreager, Ligonier; and Rita (Mark) Matson, Cromwell; five grandchildren: Alison (Ben) Mead, Albion; Lee (Emily) Kreager, Fort Wayne; Andrea (Brock) Graves, Kendallville; Justin (Tierney) Matson, Cromwell; and Rachel (Darin) Coy, Fort Wayne; nine and two halves great-grandchildren; sisters: Avis (Jerry) Nesbitt, Ligonier; and Sharon (Dick) Gregor, Ligonier.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Martha Heath; along with a brother, Howard “Hob” Musser.
Evelyn was a busy lady and worked for several years at Heintzelman’s Grocery in Cromwell. She then spent many years making delicious homemade meals for school children, teachers, and administrators at the old Perry School before retiring in 1985. Evelyn was well known for her talents in the kitchen to say the least. She will always be remembered for her unbelievable sugar cookies and telling stories that would make a sailor blush. Thankfully, she was also a charter member at Stone’s Hill Community Church.
A funeral service in Evelyn’s honor will be held at Stone’s Hill Community Church, 151 W Stones Hill Road, Ligonier, IN 46767 at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11. Pastor Joey Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
Family and friends will be received from 3-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10 at the church.
