Jerry L. Owen, 74, Ligonier, passed away Tuesday evening, June 14, 2016, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born July 28, 1941, the son of Leo and Ilene (Pippenger) Owen. On Sept. 17, 1993 he married AnnJeanette Ankney in LaGrange.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, AnnJeanette Owen of Ligonier; daughter: Lisa (Rob) Durham and their children: Jeremie, Heaven, Olivia, and Emily. Son Todd (Vicky) Owen and children: Austin, Logan and Aiden. Daughter Teresa (Don) Smith; and son Steven. Daughter: Tonya (Mike) Holcomb with children: Stephanie, Rebecca, Shannon, and Bobbie Sue. Daughter Tracy (Stan) Wiley and their daughter: Natasha. Along with children and grandchildren he leaves behind fifteen great-grandchildren and his sister: Cheryl (Thom) Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Cherry Troyer.
Jerry was an accomplished electrician and worked for J.O. Mory for many years. He really enjoyed gardening, remote controlled airplanes, wine making and of course all of his beautiful wood workings. He was able to be a part of many things due to his amazing sense of humor.
A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Yeager Funeral Home. Pastor John Lutton will officiate. Friends and Family may call upon the funeral home on Friday, June 17, from 4 p.m.–8 p.m for a formal visitation.
Burial will take place at the Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery in Merriam following the service.
