
Mary ‘Jane’ DuBois
Mary “Jane” DuBois, 90, Wawaka, passed away on March 25, 2016, at Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart. She was born January 10, 1926, the daughter of Harley D. and Irma I. (Frick) Yant. On January 10, 1944 she married Charles ‘Merrill’ Kinnison; he preceded her in death. In 1977, she married Harry ‘Bill’ DuBois; he preceded her in death in 1993.
She is survived by five children, Ann Elser, Ligonier; Dave (LiQing) Kinnison, Boiling Springs, S.C.; Mary “Tiny” (Jerry) Yant, Syracuse; Betty Jo (Fiance’, Bob Morris) Gawthrop, Elkhart and Sandra (Steve) Knepper, Kimmell; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; her lifelong best friend, Mary Gaerte; five step-sons; two step-daughters; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two brothers, James and Douglas Yant, along with two sisters, Willa Yant and Bonnie Jean Price.
Jane graduated from Wawaka High School in 1944, and then worked for many years at the High School as a secretary. She was also very instrumental for many years in the organization and operation of the Boys and Girls Club in Goshen. Jane thoroughly enjoyed traveling, and especially was fond of the camping and fishing in the mountains. She had a lifelong love of dancing and never lost that passion as the years went past.
A funeral service will be held in Jane’s honor on Thursday, March 31, at 11 a.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. Pastor Dave Hackney of New Paris Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
Family and friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the funeral home and from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday.
